“ What colour is in a picture,
enthusiasm is in life.” Vincent Van Gogh
My wardrobe is pretty basic.
I am known to wear the same clothes day in and day out.
I go for comfort.
And,
I go for colour.
Colour makes me comfortable.
Although I don’t have a rainbow range of colour in my wardrobe
I do choose to wear certain colours at certain times
and sometimes these colours are on me for a week or more.
Colour.
I walked into a garage sale on the weekend and saw pieces of material that my heart just soared to looked at.
They were bundled together.
For patchwork, the ladies said.
I don’t do patchwork (just yet!) however I bought them,
and as I was walking home I noticed that I held them to my heart.
Colour.
Do you ever just stare out of the window and after a while, once your vision focuses, you realise that you are looking at a particular colour?
How does that make you feel? Have you ever stopped to ask yourself?
Colour.
Ireland is one of my favourite places, ever. There is a green in Ireland that is in no other place on the earth.
Actually there are many shades of green in Ireland. So many. I never even knew that green had so many variations, so many different shades, so many different ways to be so alive, vibrant, mystical and magical.
Colour
Have you ever looked up at the sky and realised that it is the colour of the sky that you are looking at? The blue of the sky. The white of the fluffy clouds. The rainbow of the sunrise or sunset.
Colour.
I laid on my favourite rock overlooking the ocean one day and saw the clouds change. White to grey. Grey to black. Black to purple.
Storm clouds were filling the sky and they were making the ocean darker
and darker.
I sat and watched the storm come over me.
I turned over and watched the ocean change colour.
Thunder crashed.
Rain poured.
Lightning flashed.
Maybe I died and went to heaven.
I was in bliss.
I was exhilarated.
I was everything all at once.
Colour
Have you ever admired the colour of your apple and seen it shine in different lights of the day?
Or closely watched the colours change as you watch the day turn to night or maybe night turn to day?
Colour
Have you looked deep into someones eyes and fallen into the pool of colour that is looking back at you?
Colour.

enthusiasm is in life.” Vincent Van Gough
Colour
Have you ever drunk colour ?
Maybe supped the apricots of a sunset
or the silver light of the moon?
Have you ever tasted the blue of the ocean
or the dark clouds of a storm
or those eyes you have looked so deeply into?
Have you ever heard colour
the sound blue or green or orange makes?
Maybe you can hear the chorus of green
or the crescendo of rainbow colours?
Colour.
Have you ever felt as though you are overflowing with colour
and that the colours
so deep inside of you
become part of you,
and you
become part of those colours?
And then,
just as quickly
and as subtly
they change
and you,
are changed forever.
Something to ponder…
Colour. It is a healing ray that can change our moods and heal our soul.
What colours uplift you?
What colours deplete you?
What colours taste delicious?
What colours do you wish to spit out?
What colours do you enjoy hearing?
What colours are painful for your skin?
What colours inspire and open the door to creativity and inspiration?
What colours do you never wear?
In honour of the colours that make your heart soar
- may you see more of them
taste more of them
smell more of them
hear more of them
and feel more of them.
Blessed be,
I love this piece on colour Sam, it really has brightened up my day. The colour of the sky brings to mind the effect that has on my mood at the moment. There have been so many grey days, but then there is these cold, frosty mornings with a clear blue sky, which makes me smile so much. I just want to look up into it forever. Blue is keeping me shining right now xx
Paying attention to color is such a soothing practice. I love pink in my clothes, pink and black is my favorite color combination. And then I have enough clothes to do just a pink load.
