to Feel is to live…
not just a mundane kind of life
rather a life that says I AM HERE
I am ALIVE
I am REAL.
To Feel is our superpower
a key to majestic places that invites us to cross and discover
a map of wondrous landscapes that invites us to explore
a compass that never gets us lost and only takes us home.
To Feel is the purpose of our heart
the purpose of our soul
the purpose of our being alive…
and yet…
we hide
we run
we change our shape
we become busy,
we increase our importance
we become silent
we become loud
we become complicit
we become bossy
we become meek,
we eat more
we eat less
we sleep more
we sleep less,
we try to fit in boxes
and places that are not our own
and.
they.
will.
never.
be.
and yet to Feel…
deeply
deeply
Feel
is the greatest power we will ever be given.
The raven caws as I write those words
To Feel
To deeply FEEL.
Our feelings are important
to us
to life
to the greater web of creation.
I work with Feelings. My own and other people’s.
I help people unravel their feelings
in a way that creates wisdom and understanding.
in a way that helps take the grey clouds away
in a way that helps you put down the heavy backpack
in a way that questions why you always need to run, be busy or simply just hide.
Let me hold your hand my dear traveller friend,
and let us together FEEL.
To Feel is to open the door of our rightful Home
our Home that has been locked because we have been on a grand adventure
an adventure where we have experienced life in all its wonder and colour
where we made many wonderful, and maybe not so wonderful, choices
where we have met many wonderful, and maybe not so wonderful, people
where we have explored landscapes far and near
and travelled beyond
into books and conversations,
art and music,
lovers and muses
drugs and food
addictions and death
life…
and loss
meeting people, seeing places, exploring landscapes that are way beyond our “Home” and yet all these have made us who we are today.
To Feel deeply is to open this door, this door of our Home, and to take all the experiences we have had and let them come inside and be held.
So my dear friend,
shall we walk together up the path
to that place where we call Home…
It may be the home you live in now
it may be the home you dream about when you sleep
it may be the home that long ago, in a time beyond the here and now
you lived in
and loved in
and were in.
Shall we put the key in the door
to this place where we know that despite travelling far and wide,
this particular place is our most favourite place in the Whole-Wide-World?
Oh how wonderful to be HOME!
How long have you been travelling my dear friend?
When was the last time you came Home…
Home.
Here.
To THIS Home.
In this landscape.
Just here.
Let us go inside.
There are a lot of bags and luggage items to bring inside.
Let us open the door wide.
Pick up whatever bags are there closest
and let us walk to the first room.
Put your bags down my dear friend,
and rather than walk outside to get another bag or two
let’s go to the window and open the curtains
Is it a light calico curtain
or a heavy velvet Baroque curtain?
Maybe they are just Venetian blinds to draw up
or maybe
there is nothing
other than the window.
Pull it aside.
Pull it up.
Pull on the cord.
And open the window.
Wide.
Wide.
Wide.
Ahhh the fresh air.
Fresh
Fresh
Air.
Let the air just drift in here
and let it just waft round
and around…
Shall we get more luggage?
Shall we take it to another room?
The bedroom? The kitchen? The attic?
Where do you go?
Once in the room, put the bags down.
And let us once again go to the window.
Is there a curtain here?
Pull it back. Take it off…
and open the window.
Every room might have a curtain or two
Every room has a window or more.
Ahhh, you have been been away for so long my dear traveller friend,
Of course the house is a bit stuffy
We expect that.
We are Home now
You meander past another room and gently try to open it.
Oh! Do you remember locking this door before you left?
Locking it securely with a key? It has been locked now for a very long time…
Do you still have the key?
Or is it hidden on the picture rail just above your head? Or perhaps in that secret pocket in your jacket?
I wonder why the room was locked,
sealed shut and tight?
I wonder why you kept it locked up
during all those travelling years?
Open the door my dear friend.
Let the old air come out. It’s stale air now.
Like a room of a sick child.
Open the door my friend,
and go and pull back the curtain.
Let the light come in.
Let the light dance in the room.
The window - is it stiff to open or does it open easily when you try?
Give it a gentle nudge,
it sooo wants to open…
Ahhh, can you feel it,
the air outside?
It is fresh and real
and alive and new,
and it comes through the window
in the once locked up room,
it has come in to take
the stale air out
to let it be free.
The Fresh Air invites the Stale Air to dance with it
Can you see the dance -
the dance of the Old Air and the New Air?
Can you see how they play and frolic
and swirl and pirouette?
Can you see how they merge and dissipate
how they play in the trees and make the leaves move and sway,
dancing to a rhythm that is neither old nor new,
rather a rhythm that is so divine and pure,
and real and alive that everything in nature wants to dance too?
Can you see how the Old Air from this closed locked room goes out and the New Air comes in?
Can you see it?
Can you feel it?
Can you see them merge together and dance gracefully in this once closed room?
And can you see the light
playing upon the window sill?
Can you feel the warmth of this light
upon your face
upon your hands
upon your being?
The light comes inside
and it dances in this once locked room,
and it plays upon the walls
and moves upon the ceiling
and it makes such beautiful patterns on the floor
the furniture…
and the smell,
do you notice the smell has changed…
no longer the smell of being locked up and closed “forever”
rather the smell of something fresh and alive and new.
The Old Air has danced outside
outside in the light and the sunshine,
outside with the chorus of birds
outside with the dancing leaves
outside to be taken up in the expanse of nature
that is
Let us stay here a while
my dear traveller friend,
let us just look outside the window.
Maybe we might notice that the window is dirty
that the fly screen needs replacing
that the window sash is frayed
that the curtain has turned to dust
that the light coming in highlights the dust in the room
and yet
it doesn’t matter
nothing matters
NOTHING
MATTERS
except the colours that glisten through the landscape and play upon the window sill
except the tiny sounds of nature that gift music to our soul
except the feel of the fresh air upon our face and the way our body feels
Nothing else matters right now
the luggage doesn’t matter
our dirty clothes don’t matter
the fear of missing out doesn’t matter
the fear of this room doesn’t matter
the worries and stresses and should have’s and could have’s
they do not matter any more
the only thing that matters
is the light that shines through this window
the fresh air that smells so divine
and the way our body feels
just
at
this moment in time

This is so gorgeous Sam, I am transported to such a beatiful place with your words. I feel as though home is not so near at the moment, but I am comforted that I can take myself that little bit closer by following your journey.
Ah, Sam, when we dance we feel.
We move beyond thought 💭.
BILLY ELLIOT went to a sensation of oneness as he danced and spun around.
Air and breath so essential 🌬️ !
Thank you for this ride of wonders!
The house you posted is my dream 😴.
Reminds me of the tree house in PRINCESS BRIDE.
Where a married couple of healers live.
