Darkness approaches.
Quietly.
Softly.
A blanket upon the earth.
She comes to welcome us
The Goddess of Winter,
She does.
She comes to guide us
The Spirit of Winter,
She does.
She is a light in the dark
Calling us close.
She is a light in the dark
Inviting us close.
Darkness approaches.
Softly.
Quietly.
She calls us to her cave.
Her cave
deep in the landscape of the earth.
Her cave
deep in the landscape of our hearts.
Softly.
Quietly.
She calls us to enter.
Softly.
Quietly.
She calls us to come.
Darkness falls over the land.
The landscape becomes bare.
Only the Evergreen Guardians are there
giving hope of eternal life in the darkness.
Softly.
Quietly.
She calls us to enter.
Softly.
Quietly.
She calls us to come,
“Come.
Come sit with me.”
The Crone,
The Cailleach calls.
“Be not afraid of the depth of the darkness.
Be not afraid of the cold.
Be not afraid of the dark dark night.
Come.
Come sit with me.
I will light the fire.
I will hold your hand.
I will sing to your heart.
Come,
Come sit with me.
I will soothe your fears.
I will feed
and I will clothe you.
Come,
Come sit with me.
I will sit in the dark dark hours with you.
Be not afraid of the depth of the dark.
Be not afraid of me”
Darkness approaches
The longest night,
Is here.
It
has arrived.
It has slowly come upon us for many many days
and many many nights
And many many turnings of the moon,
And now
it is here.
And in her cave
By her fire
We are held in the darkness
In Her darkness.
The darkness is here.
As She now walks upon the earth.
The Winter Goddess.
The Crone.
The Calliach.
By many a name She is called.
This
is Her domain.
The cold.
The dark.
The Winter.
She cares for those inner realms
She cares for those moments when the blanket of darkness comes over our heart.
She holds the fire in the depth of her cave
And only asks that we come and join her,
That we come and sit with her
That we come,
and let her sing to our heart
and let her hold our hand in the depth of our darkness.
The Darkness is here.
And in the depth of the darkness there is a promise.
A promise by the Evergreens
that in the darkness there is continual colour and life.
A promise by the Crone
of more LIGHT to come.
A promise by the Winter Goddess
of more LIFE to come.
Come,
Come sit with me.
On this night of the Winter Solstice.
Your Invitation…
Will YOU enter her cave this Winter Solstice?
Will YOU let her hold your hand and sing to your heart?
Will YOU let her soothe your fears and wash your tears?
Will YOU let her cradle you and rock you,
when the inner darkness becomes too dark?
And when the darkness covers the lands
and the blackness is deep and calling
will YOU watch her relight her fire
and will YOU feel and see
a new light appear?
Softly.
Gently.
The Goddess of Winter approaches.
Softly.
Gently.
The Goddess of Winter comes.
Softly.
Gently.
The Goddess of Winter
Is Here.
May the Goddess of Winter hold you this season
May she soothe your fears
And cradle your sorrows.
May her wisdom awaken the fire within you,
Slowly at first
Then brighter
and brighter,
And may you feel as you sit in her cave
That a threshold has been entered
And a portal has been crossed.
As you sit in the Darkness
and the Light
all at once.
May this Winter Solstice bless you and hold you,
and until we meet again my friends,
Blessed be.
What a beautiful mind picture and journey to take to bed with me tonight.
Thank you, it’s soft, mindful, and taking me into the cave as I drift off to sleep on this eve, only a short one tonight as I’ve been up studying.
I love it, thank you beautiful. May you be curled up with the spirit of winter as I write this to you.
Much love, always
Jodie
Thanks dear Samantha. I hadn’t realized it’s the winter solstice! This soothed me coz I have an op tomorrow, a hip replacement. ❤️🩹
