I love creating dishes and sharing my food with family, friends and even neighbors, I’ll bake a batch of my now famous muffins and spread them around my neighbors , I love to make beautiful pies and soups , to create a dinner for friends fills my heart as it brings joy and happiness to a table, sharing , caring,to then serve a beautiful dessert and see happy faces,
My Mama taught me to cook then I took it all next level, she was proud of the cook I became.
My husbands fave restaurant is home. He too is a wonderful cook. Blessed be.
Thank you for sharing how your home-cooked food is such an important part of your life and the life of your family and local community. What a glorious post to read.
May your dishes continue to bring much nourishment to all those that share it with you. Much love x
Food has become a focal devotion in my journey. My whole wellness has been in the depths of shapeshifting, drawing my attention and presence to spaces and places in my physical body that seek deeper nourishment. More intentional nutrients. I have been making a lot of soups, and baking fresh sourdough bread. Simple foods seem to be what calls to my heart at the moment. My whole being is signaling for depth and simplicity as I open myself more fully to my gifts of receptivity.
What a lovely wholeness meditation... "To draw your attention and presence to the spaces and places in your physical body that seek deeper nourishment. More intentional nutrients." How lovely that is to DEEPLY listen to what the physical body needs - the exquisite vessel for our spirit and then to ACT upon that LISTENING.
Its fascinating how much practice this requires!!! I feel like many of us were trained OUT of listening to our embodied signals and choosing to meet the clear needs without delay. It's like I need the simplicity so that the restoration of my congruence feels accessible.
My mum used to make scones as well. Though hers weren’t the soft fluffy kind (none of her cakes were like that- always dense full of deep goodness). I have a memory of coming home from school.... walking up the hill / driveway from the bus and walking in the door to get pulling perfectly cooked date scones from the oven. Ready to be slathered with butter. And stories of our day shared together around the fire (we didn’t have an oven, so my parents had to light the wood burning stove to do proper baking).
Scones! My Mum never made fluffy scones either, yet like your Mum's it was full of goodness and wholesomeness, love and deep deep warmth. Shall we share some scones on day, maybe some warm soup as well, I'll make sure that there is a new homemade loaf of bread to slather butter on, I'll put the kettle on, show you my knitting (I'm knitting socks) and we can curl up together on the lounge.

In honour of listening, simplicity and depth.
