Sam what a gentle and sweet meditation. As you described your altar, sounded just like mine, except without the chalice. Instead, I have a shot of whiskey for my ancestors. Either way my candles were lit, and my altar was beside me. Then the burning of sage... I actually did that before listening to this. So tender to be with in the imagining and feeling the immediate presence of it all too. I felt beautifully taken care of, tucked in and hugged. Thanks so much Sam.
Oh how divine to know that your altar is similar. I have also at times included a glass of whiskey for the ancestors and also oats or apples for the wee/fey folk.
