Welcome to Soft. Simple. Still, a place where like gentle butterflies that land upon your hand,
soft words will land in your heart for healing, stillness and simplicity.
A special welcome to you if you are new here.
If you regularly share a cuppa with me here in this space,
know that I have already put the kettle on for you.
Between Birth
and Death,
there is Life.
Between Night
and Day,
there is Dawn.
Between Day
and Night,
there is Dusk.Between Summer
and Winter,
there is Autumn.Between Winter
and Summer,
there is Spring.
Between the in breath
and the out breath,
there is Stillness.
Between the past
and the present
there is Now.
The In-Betweens -
It marks a significant time
A sacred time
a time in the web of life
for change
for balance
for stillness
The In-Betweens
A threshold.
A crossover
A liminal space.
An invisible gateway
that defines a time past
and a time yet to come.
A cross over
that invites stillness.
A doorway
that beckons change.
A sacred space
that invites balance.
Today we experience the Equinox…
The Equinox is another in between time
In between Summer Solstice and Winter Solstice
is the Autumn Equinox
In between Winter Solstice and Summer Solstice
is the Spring Equinox
Today is the Equinox
Autumn in the Southern Hemisphere
Spring in the Northern Hemisphere.
The Equinox marks a time of balance.
A time of change.
A time when the land crosses over
from one season to another.
A time when the land comes into BALANCE.
It is a time when the sun rises directly in the east
and sets directly in the west.
It is a time when day light is equal
to the darkness of the night.
It is a time when,
as humans we are invited to pause
to breathe out
and to feel a sense of balance
within the landscape
and within ourselves.
It is a time
when we are invited to pause in our daily life
and FEEL the subtle changes
that are occurring naturally around us.
It is a time of healing
of understanding
of letting go.
It is a time of renewal
of acceptance
of appreciation.
It is a time of contentment
of gratitude
of expansion.
It is a time of evaluating
of noticing
of change.
What changes are you noticing in the landscape around you?
What changes are you noticing in your internal landscape as these external changes occur?
What does balance mean to you in a world that is changing?
Today we welcome a sense of BALANCE in our lives.
Today we welcome it with open arms
and invite it to come and fill our lives
in a way that stops the inner seesaw from over tipping
that stops the pendulum from over swinging
that stops the cup from over spilling.
We welcome balance into our lives and invite
the analytical and the creative parts of ourselves to rejoice in each other’s skills.
We invite the logical and the intuitive parts of ourselves to dance the dance of acceptance and awareness.
We invite our mind and heart to hold hands
and lead us forward in a way that unites THE ALL OF US
in a way that empowers,
uplifts
and deeply heals.
We welcome balance into our lives
as one would welcome a cool breeze on a hot day
or a warm hearth on a cold day
We welcome balance into our lives
as one would welcome a wholesome meal
or a soothing bath.
We welcome balance into our lives
as one would welcome
a home
stability
connection.
Sometimes when this Balance of Days occurs
we feel anything other than in balance
We feel lost.
We feel adrift.
We feel scattered.
I woke today feeling all of this.
I woke today feeling that,
on my favourite day of the year
I felt disconnected to it
I felt discombobulated
I felt disoriented.
Essentially I feel OUT OF BALANCE.
So I choose to be gentle with myself
I choose to feel into what is Out of Balance and to hold it tenderly.
I choose to hold this feeling of being Out of Balance
and I choose to let it sit on my lap
as I would allow my children to sit on my lap
when they are feeling out of sorts
I will hold this feeling of Out of Balance
I will hold its hand
and gently touch its hair,
I will lay down
and curl my body around its shape,
I will sing it a made up song of love
as I made up lullabies of love to my children.
I will tenderly feel into it
shedding tears that I did not know I had to shed
feeling its feelings
its hopes
its sorrows.
I will ask it its name
and will tell it I am here in peace.
I will ask it “How can I support you?”
and listen
released of judgement
and fear.
Then,
when it begins to wriggle and become restless
I will let it roll over
stand up
and move around,
knowing that it was held safely
and heard
and loved.
And only then
will I find balance in my day.
The Equinox is a time of balance
A time of balance in the wider landscape
and in our own inner landscape.
Thoughts to ponder as you embrace the EQUINOX
What does being in balance mean to you?
What do you need to hold tenderly today to bring your life into balance?
What can you do today to create a more balanced lifestyle?
What do you notice in this changing season whether that be Autumn or Spring? What do you notice in the changing air, the changing landscape, the changing tides upon the waves?
What do you notice in the migration of the birds? In the patterns of the trees? In the movement of the animals?
Today is a crossover time.
A very sacred time of the year.
A liminal time
A threshold to step onto
An invitation to accept.
How do you celebrate the Equinox?
What do you do to honour balance and change within yourself?
What can you do to encourage balance in your days and weeks ahead?
Beyond the liminal is change.
Beyond change is balance.
Today is a day of change.
May the Equinox - Autumn or Spring - bring balance into your day
May it hold your dreams and soothe your worries,
and may it offer your mind, body and heart
a softer and simpler way of being in the world
and may the wisdom of Balance that you receive today
continue in your days and months ahead.
Until we meet again,
Blessed be,

Sam I love this! That even in balance there is a place for imbalance. It's the yin and the yang, the liminal space that embraces the opposites, finding a miraculous way to blend them. Ostara and Mabon blessings to you dear friend, and deer friend. 🌀💜🌀
This whole post made me exhale deeply. Yesterday I felt chaotic and out of alignment, and today I feel much calmer and in balance. I didn't realize it was the equinox! Yesterday I gave myself the grace to feel the chaos and today I'm giving myself grace to feel the peace.
